Devonta Thomas, MSW


Devontā Thomas was born in Wichita, KS and spent his childhood between Wichita and Kansas City. He was drawn to performing arts and journalism when he was in high school then went to Pittsburg State University where he majored in Elementary Education in 2014. Prior to graduating he realized human services was more of his calling due to working part time as a case manager assistant and interning with multiple elementary grade levels.

Devontā started his journey in human services since 2015. He has professional experience with Community Case Management, Law Enforcement, Residential for children and adults, multiple roles in wraparound services, substance abuse counseling and working within the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community. Devontā now works as a crisis and outpatient clinician at Fairwinds Counseling Center of Nantucket. He obtained his Masters in Social WOrk from Springfield College in 2022. Now Devontā is focusing his time towards becoming an independent licensed social worker to have his own practice that focus on person centered therapy for multiple communities. He also holds interest in dance therapy/wellness, substance use counseling, rehabilitation reform for individuals in the justice system, and transitional life skills.
