The Executive Director of Fairwinds-Nantucket’s Counseling Center, Tess started her tenure as a therapist before stepping into the director’s role in January of 2014. She received her BS in biology with minors in chemistry and Spanish from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. She later received a graduate degree in rehabilitation counseling and psychology and was awarded the Merit Scholarship from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill School of Medicine. After extensive research and direct therapy practice for individuals with addiction and trauma, Tess moved to Nantucket. She continues to be passionately committed to improving mental health services for all island residents, increasing community collaboration, lowering stigma around mental health and substance misuse, expanding interdisciplinary wrap-around clinical care, and creating ongoing financial sustainability at the agency. Tess loves spending time with her husband and spoiled-rotten rescue Pitbull, exploring the outdoors, traveling, cooking with friends, and reading on the beach.
