Coordinator of Substance Misuse Services
Mayo Funderburg is an outpatient therapist, therapeutic mentor, peer recovery coach, and DAE (Driver Alcohol Education) instructor. Licensed as an addiction counselor in MA, he entered the field because of his personal experience. He has been in recovery since 1992. Prior to moving to Nantucket, Mayo ran a residential program for homeless men in Atlanta. When he and his wife and family moved to Nantucket in 2001, and after a five year hiatus from behavioral health, Mayo returned to the work he loves. Mayo loves the idea that as a therapeutic mentor he can support the entire family with a whole team behind him. In his spare time, Mayo unwinds by listening to music and playing video games.
