Covid-19 has changed so much. It has been a challenging time and it is not over yet. But there is learning that happens during demanding and highly stressful periods. Among the many shifts that everyone has experienced since the outbreak of Covid-19, one is that we have had the opportunity to look at the world through new eyes. We are able to see through the lens of “things are different now.”
At Fairwinds, we suspect that all of us are capable of seeing even ourselves in a new light. Our Portrait Fundraiser aligns strongly with that idea. The idea that a portrait is not an act of creation, but an act of discovery. A discovery of what is really there. The new and developing, as well as the familiar.
We are incredibly excited to launch this fundraiser, which will be ongoing weekly through the end of the calendar year. We are fortunate to have on staff in our advancement office an accomplished photographer—Robin G. London— who has worked in portraiture (and other forms of photography) for over 30 years throughout New York City, Westchester, and Connecticut. With her skills and jubilant approach to revealing and discovering the wonderful and beautiful truth about her subjects, you will have a blast… and end up with a treasured keepsake portrait.
Here’s how it works:
You provide: a tax-deductible donation to Fairwinds (suggested donation amounts can be found on our website, link below). That donation helps our agency continue to offer behavioral health services to everyone, regardless of insurance status or ability to pay. The impact of such donations cannot be overstated.
We provide: a 45 minute socially distant portrait sitting for you, you and your spouse, your immediate family, or even a larger group, which could be an extended family, the staff of your business, or you and your closest family friends to celebrate being on the island at the same time! You also receive 20-25 digital photos to use on your social media, website, and from which to choose a high-resolution image, which will be emailed to you. Additional print options are available too—large size prints on canvas, metal, and more.
We have three late afternoons/early evenings (great light!) set aside weekly at three locations: Brant Point, Sankaty Head, and The Creeks (overlooking the harbor). For a larger minimum donation, we are happy to meet you anywhere you want—at your home or favorite island spot.
Our Portrait Fundraiser webpage will walk you through the registration and donation process, but feel free to reach out to Vanessa (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Robin London (email@example.com) if you have any questions.
