Mentoring Youth Nantucket (MYNantucket) improves and enriches the lives of at-risk island children through the friendship and guidance of our caring, responsible mentors.
Our four programs include traditional 1-to-1 mentoring, Breakfast Buddies in the Nantucket elementary schools, and two academic mentoring programs, one in the elementary school and one in the middle school.
Despite Nantucket’s reputation as an affluent community, many of the children in our program come from single parent/guardian households that rely on government assistance. Some of the kids have behavioral issues; others have academic difficulties, but they all share the need for a positive influence. Our mentors fill that gap, and help guide their mentees onto a healthy path.
In 2016 Mentoring Youth Nantucket merged with Fairwinds — Nantucket’s Counseling Center, the island’s only nonprofit behavioral health agency. 300 Nantucket children benefit from our mentorship programs. We invite you to inquire further to volunteer as a mentor and to support this program benefiting Nantucket’s children. We are a 501(c)3 nonprofit that relies on the generosity of the Nantucket community.
